How Do Bail Bonds Work?

Explaining BailbondsIf it’s your first time ever needing to bail a loved one out of jail, of course you want to know, “How do bail bonds work?” Here’s an easy-to-understand explanation:

Bail Bonds Explained

A bail bond is like an insurance policy covering your loved one. You pay a premium to the bail bondsman who “covers” the bail amount set by the court. In the contract you make with the bail bonding agency, you guarantee that your loved one will appear in court as required. Your loved one is then released from jail.

If your loved one appears in court as ordered, your only cost is the bail bondsman’s premium.  But, if your loved one doesn’t show up for court, you have to pay the entire bail amount or cover the costs the bail bondsman incurred to find and arrest your loved one for skipping bond.
